Launched in 2021, the Colgate Commitment is a milestone in the University’s efforts to make a Colgate education accessible to talented, high-achieving students, regardless of socioeconomic background.
Enriching the Residential Experience
As a four-year residential university, Colgate has significantly invested in the residential life experience. In years to come, Colgate will rejuvenate the physical spaces along Broad and College streets, reimagining and creating equity in the spaces where juniors and seniors live and interact.
In addition, Colgate will develop a fifth Residential Commons to fully develop the Residential Commons system, where first and second-year students experience tradition, build class unity, and cultivate an affinity for Colgate.
Support for Debate and Discourse
Colgate’s commitment to academic freedom and freedom of expression is active and ongoing. With empathy and intellectual curiosity, the Colgate community engages in lively debate and rigorous academic discourse, both in and out of the classroom.
Expanding Faculty Support
A university is, at its core, the product of the people it attracts and a union of individuals in service of learning. Colgate is taking the necessary steps to ensure that it attracts faculty of remarkable promise and achievement. Colgate plans to endow 25 new faculty chairs and bolster grant programs for new and established faculty members.
